Things that get used, not displayed
Mango wood with grain worth showing. Stoneware heavy enough to feel like something. Brass that will go a little dull and look better for it. We buy serveware the way you would buy it for your own kitchen, which is to say we care whether it works.
If it only looks good empty, it is a prop, not serveware.
