This policy covers this website only.
Our online shop runs on Shopify at store.modernhippieinteriors.com. If you browse products, create an account, build a gift registry, or place an order, that activity is handled by Shopify and is governed by the privacy and cookie policies published on the store, together with Shopify’s own privacy policy. We never see or store your full payment card details.
Information you give us
You do not need to give us anything to read this website. If you choose to contact us — by phone, by email, or through a form on this site — we receive whatever you send, which usually means your name, your contact details, and the content of your message. We use it to answer you and to keep a record of what was discussed.
If you leave a comment on a post, we store the name, email address and website you enter, along with your IP address and browser information. Comments are checked for spam by Akismet, a service operated by Automattic; this involves sending that information to Automattic. If your email address is registered with Gravatar, an anonymised hash of it may be sent to Gravatar so that your avatar can be displayed.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, ours records some technical information when you visit:
- Server logs. Our host, Pressable (an Automattic company), records IP addresses, request times, pages requested and browser identifiers as part of running and securing the site.
- Site statistics. We use Jetpack Stats to see how many people visit and which pages they read. This is aggregate traffic reporting, not individual profiling.
- Advertising and measurement. We run Google Ads. Google tags on this site help us measure whether an advert led to a visit, and may be used to show you our adverts again on other websites (remarketing).
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site uses:
- Essential cookies set by WordPress and the Avada theme, which are needed for the site to work and to remember basic preferences.
- Statistics cookies set by Jetpack.
- Advertising cookies set by Google.

Social media content on this site
We display feeds from Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, X and review platforms. That content is loaded from those companies’ servers, which means they can see that your browser requested it and may set their own cookies. Their handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.
How we use your information
- To answer enquiries and provide the design, gifting and registry services you ask for.
- To operate, maintain and secure the website.
- To understand which pages and products people are interested in.
- To measure and improve our advertising.
- To send you email only if you have asked us to.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information for money.
We share information only with the service providers that make the site and the business work — our hosting provider (Pressable/Automattic), Automattic for Jetpack and Akismet, Google for advertising and measurement, Shopify for the online shop, and our email provider if you have subscribed to a mailing list — and where the law requires it.
A note for California residents: using Google advertising cookies may count as “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law, even though no money changes hands. You can stop it using the browser and Google settings above, by using a Global Privacy Control signal in your browser, or by emailing us and asking us to.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries and correspondence for as long as we need them to serve you and to keep proper business records, and no longer than is reasonable for that purpose. Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely unless you ask us to remove them. Server and statistics data are retained on the schedules set by our host and by Jetpack.
Your rights
You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and not to be treated differently for exercising them. We honour these requests from anyone who asks, whether or not the law requires us to.

If your request concerns an order, an account or a gift registry, that data lives in our Shopify store — tell us and we will handle it there.
Children
This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, including a secure (HTTPS) connection and a managed, monitored hosting platform. No website can promise perfect security, and we do not.
Links to other sites
This site links to other websites, including our Shopify store and businesses we work with. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
